Rental Terms
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In any case of discrepancy between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Maghull, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur extra fees. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by phone, or directly at our Maghull office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where appropriate. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. Ensure that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and additional charges may apply. The vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel as at collection; otherwise, refueling charges will be added. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please notify us right away if you expect to be late. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. You may choose additional insurance options to lower your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless additional insurance is purchased. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains with you, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unapproved drivers is against the policy. Operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited. Vehicles must be used as intended and within specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the defined geographical boundaries without prior permission is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Maghull will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled exclusively by English and Welsh courts.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
