Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement that you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Maghull, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of address must be provided, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria specified in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Maghull office. A deposit may be required to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally due upon vehicle pickup. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Maghull, a comprehensive inspection is necessary to identify and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and additional fees may be applied. Ensure the fuel level matches that at the start of your rental; otherwise, refueling charges will be incurred. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges accrued during your rental, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial liability. It’s important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless further coverage is secured. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
6. Cancellations and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses include:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading, as well as transporting hazardous materials, are not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Additionally, using the vehicle for purposes for which it is not intended, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or driving outside of agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Maghull is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively within the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
